Good Golly, It's Holly!
As a school librarian I recommend this book that introduces children to Holly. This intelligent parrot is a member of her family and will arouse in children empathy for parrots. From Holly they will learn the importance of a healthy diet; no junk food for parrots. Any child can relate to the terror of Holly's impulsive runaway from home. What a relief when Holly's "Dad" rescues her. The book's colorful drawings are a visual delight and the short paragraphs will hold their attention.
In 2015 H IS FOR HAWK alighted on the N. Y. Times List of the 10 Best Books of the Year. Presumedly, lots of adults now know about and value hawks. For a children's list of best books, H is for Holly!
